Working in the field of education and health promotion, I am constantly reminding people of the important work that farmers play in the well-being of the general public. From growing fresh food to raising animals, farmers are critical to the health of our society. As a CSA member, I see how hard farmers work and feel a responsibility to consume and use fresh food responsibly. A few years ago I decided to start diverting fresh food remnants out of the landfill by starting to compost at my home. I would have done it sooner if I had realized how easy it is!
